Dr. Walker’s educational experience and professional background range from education, administration, political science, geomorphology through to law. He practices in Civil Litigation, Family Law, Property Law, Probate and Contract Law. His academic qualifications include, among others;

Teaching Activities
Currently Dr. Walker teaches Contract Law, Business Law, Labour and Employment Law, Ethics, Philosophy of Human Nature, Logic and Research methods – Qualitative and Quantitative.

Honours and Awards

1. Most Outstanding Law Student in the Caribbean – University of the West Indies 2001 awarded for academic excellence
2. Student of the Year, 1977 and 1978, Lakehead University, Canada for academic excellence
3. Inducted as Member of Phi Beta Kappa Honour Society for Academic Excellence, University of Rochester.
4. Director’s prize for Contract Law, Criminal Law and Constitutional Law, UWI LLB Programme.
5. Named a student of the Year, Mico Teachers’ College for academic
excellence.

Research and Publication
Dr. Walker has written and published over twenty five academic articles. These range in scope from Classroom Discipline in education, Teaching, The Effects of Political Ideology on Education, Philosophy, Administration, Radical Geographic Theories and Law. His most recent publications include an article in the West Indian Law Journal which explored the thesis, Is No Fault Divorce, Style over Substance and one to be published in the same Journal, this year (2018) which explores the thesis of whether there is such a thing as Crown Land.

Dr, Walker has been called to the Bahamas Bar since 2005. He is married to Dr. Berthamae Walker and they have two children, Jhoemae A. Walker, a medical doctor and Joseph A Walker, II, presently a student at Johnson & Wales University.
