Rionda Godet graduated from St. Anne’s High School and continued her education at the College of The Bahamas, earning an Associate of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications and was a news reporter for 3 years until pursuing a law degree in 1987.

Rionda has a well-rounded legal background and her niche areas comprise of Employment Law and Negligence and Personal Injury Law. She also counsels in matters relating to general Contract Law, Debt Collection, Law of Succession including Wills and Probate practice, as well as Conveyancing and Mortgages. Rionda also provides Human Resources Consultancy Services.

Rionda studied law at the University of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England, where she successfully completed both a Bachelors of Laws (LLB) and Masters of Laws (LLM) Degree in International Commercial Law. A member of Lincolns Inn, Rionda was called to both the Bar of England and Wales and The Bahamas Bar in 1990. She has worked in law firms in the UK (Amery-Parkes Solicitors, London) and The Bahamas (Elliot Lockhart & Co and Harry B. Sands & Co.) and also served in the office of the Attorney General, practicing as a Crown Prosecutor and Civil Litigator. She has aided in international proceedings pursuant to the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty and is a Romulo Gallegos Fellow, having interned as a Human Rights Attorney in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, OAS, in Washington, D.C. for a year. Rionda’s legal career also included 11 years at Kerzner International as In-House Counsel and Vice-President of Labour Relations. Rionda was most recently attached to the law firm of Clarita V. Lockhart & Co.

Rionda has participated in many management and leadership courses conducted by Harvard University, Massachusetts and the Council for Creative Leadership, Colorado, and also attained a Professional Certification (PHR) in Human Resources. She also has a working knowledge of Spanish. In 2009, Rionda took a sabbatical from her legal practice to pursue a career in Agri-business and is the Proprietor and CEO of Ridge Farms, Nature’s Best! She currently serves as the Secretary of the Bahamas Agricultural Producers’ Association and a member of the Tribune Radio Holding Ltd. Board of Directors. She is a member of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, the Bahamas Hotel Association, the Organization of Young Professionals, The Bahamas Horticultural Society and The Bahamas National Trust. An active member and organist at The Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Rionda is married to Dion Godet, former Chairman of the Bahamas Golf Division and they have two sons, William and Christopher.
